Abstract
Introduction: Osteoarthritis of the knee and hip is a condition that affects more people every day, making it necessary to identify the factors to which it is most associated for the intervention of the health team. Objective: Determine the risk factors for osteoarthritis of the knee and hip in adults treated at the Las Mercedes-Chiclayo Hospital, in 2023. Method: The study was quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental; It was carried out at the Las Mercedes Hospital in Chiclayo. The sample represented 160 patients. A questionnaire validated by expert judgment was used; Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.89, the analysis was statistical, taking into account the ethical principles and criteria of scientific rigor. Results: Modifiable factors for the risk of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip are high blood pressure and alcohol and/or tobacco consumption, with double risk in those patients with high blood pressure who consume alcohol and/or tobacco. Likewise, the non-modifiable factor present in the risk of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip in adults is genetics, where the risk is 3 times greater in relation to age and sex. Conclusions: The modifiable factors associated with the presence of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip must be addressed by nursing with a multidisciplinary approach given that it is multicausal.References
